Why do I need this to generate a secure PIN?

Human beings are surprisingly predictable when it comes to picking PINs!

According to a 2012 study1 of 3.4 million 4-digit passwords, over 25% of people chose their PIN from the same set of 15 numbers. This means that even though there are 10,000 possibilities for a 4-digit PIN, any crook has a 1 in 4 chance of breaking into an account after only 15 tries.

Another 2012 study2 found that nearly 7% of individuals use their birth date as their PIN. Nearly everyone carries a driver's license or other document showing their birthday.

Are PIN numbers totally insecure, then? Not necessarily, but normal methods of picking them certainly are! Click the button above to generate a shiny new PIN and ask your card issuer to change your PIN today.
